CCRF Prostate Cancer Appeal
There are many surgical techniques to remove prostate tumours identified by biopsies and thus early reliable identification and elimination of aggressive tumours could lead to a complete cure. It is clear that the secret of success in reducing prostate cancer mortality is early detection of tumours in order to maximize the effectiveness of modern treatment regimens such as surgery and radiotherapy. The development of a successful and reliable screening protocol would greatly aid physicians in the current struggle to contain this form of male cancer.
It is for this reason that we are appealing for funds to set up a new research programme to undertake the work necessary to find the best test, or tests, which will accurately identify the more aggressive cancers and, if necessary, design better ones for prostate cancer screening.
